Now that you have finished building your fairy house let's do a fairy house welcoming ritual

Now that you have finished building your fairy house let’s do a fairy house welcoming ritual to invite the fairies to their new home. Sprinkle a little ground ginger in front of the entrance. This let’s the fairies know that they are welcomed [Fairies like ginger]. If you have created your fairy house as a permanent structure in your yard or garden then liven the area up by planting flowers around it that will bloom in spring and summer this serve a double purpose it welcomes the fairies and offer them privacy as well.

So let’s let the fairies know that you have built them a house and you want them to come inspect it:[ Do not put names or labels on the house] Use this chant to send out a welcoming call.

The house is built, the door open wide
O, fairies come and look inside.

Now clap your hands three times.

Magick of the sun and moon will call a dweller very soon

Clap your hands three times

True friendship I send to Faery folk, May this house be full of the small folk

Clap your hands three times,

Now walk away giving the fairy folk privacy to look over the house and choose which type of fairy will live there.

fairy house

This years Beltane 2015 craft for the Young Witch and Wizard try your hand at building a fairy house for your garden or you can keep it in the house with you. These are the bare bone instruction for creating your fairy house. Check the links for more details.

Things You’ll Need

  • Hot glue gun (only for fairy houses in your own backyard or garden but not in the woods!)
  • Wood glue (same applies)
  • Twigs
  • Tapes
  • Cardboard (only for garden/backyards designs)
  • Wood if you’re crafty
  • Inexpensive doll furniture (only for garden/backyard designs)
  • Air dry or oven-bake clay (optional)
  • A board or something flat and stiff to build your house on
  • Decorations taken from the outdoors

Step one: Gather Supplies

Find a large container or basket to use for the house itself and a plastic tray for the base.

Look for a variety of natural materials and decorative craft items like leaves, grass, moss, acorns, rocks, flowers and seashells.[Take a hike through the woods on Beltane and gather what you need]

You’ll need a low-temperature glue gun and wood glue to put it all together.

As soon as you have sufficient supplies spread them out so you know what you have to work with.

Step two:
Start with a strong foundation if you are building your fairy house for indoors then a sturdy piece of cardboard will work. If you plan to place your house outdoors you will need a foundation that will stand up to the weather so a large wooden circle or square if you have it other wise use plastic make sure that you cover the plastic in natural material such as moss, dirt or other natural materials that you have gathered so your fairy house will blend in with the rest of the yard.

Step Three:
After you line the tray, pick out the main structure. Use a wicker basket or other fairy-friendly container. Make sure it will fit comfortably on the tray with room for add-ons and embellishments of your choice.

If you are building it out side there are many things laying around your yard that can be turned into a fairy house do let your imagination be your guide.

When you have finished with your house make sure you put it somewhere private and out of the way of people and pets.

dragons love tacosDragons Love Tacos by Adam Rubin

Dragons Love Tacos is a fun extravaganza into the preferred cuisine of dragons, according to author Adam Rubin.  Dragons love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. So if you want to lure a bunch of dragons to your party, you should definitely serve tacos. Buckets and buckets of tacos. But hey, go easy on the spicy salsa because if a dragon eats jalapeno-swimming salsas, be warned, it brings a whole new meaning to “housewarming”. This pencil cartoon illustrated book is a fun and entertaining tale for teeny tiny dragon lovers aged 3-5.

Ostara Egg Magick

When coloring eggs do you make special eggs for family members? If you do take it one step further and add a magickal wish to the egg for them. Using the wax crayon in the egg dying kit or using a white crayon write your Ostara wish for your loved one on the special egg you do for them. You may write words like, prosperity, happiness, joy, love on their eggs. While you are writing the words take a moment to visualize how the person you are making the egg for will feel when your wish for them come true, You may also draw designs that enhance your wish for them. Use your imagination and your magic to create Ostara egg magick for family and friends.

You may also use this idea to write on a strip of paper and decorate it with symbols that represent your magickal wish. Luck could be a four leaf clover, love could be hearts, prosperity could be $ signs. These strips of paper can be placed in plastic eggs and placed next to the persons plate at breakfast.

For your own personal Ostara Egg Magick cut out egg shapes on paper or poster board decorate them using the colors of Ostara or the colors that correspond with your magickal desire. Write your magickal desire on the back of your cut out egg in pen or crayon in the appropriate color for that desire, [friendship/pink, money/green] turn your egg over and decorate the front of it with colors and symbols to match your desire. Focus the entire time that your are decorating your egg on how you would feel when that desire comes true and how it would change things for you. Place your egg on your altar until your desire comes to fruition. This may be done in your magickal circle if you feel more comfortable with that. Other wise find a quiet place and work on this making as many colorful eggs as your need.

An Ostara  craft the whole family can enjoy, try this easy garland of embroidery-floss  eggs. Prepare a bowl of stiffener mixture (we used 1 cup of liquid starch mixed with 1/2 cup of flour) and gently coil embroidery floss into the bowl. Blow up a water balloon to the desired size of your egg, and wrap the floss around the balloon, using multiple colors if desired. Let the finished product dry for several hours, then pop the balloon to reveal your egg. Hang several eggs with another strand of floss by tying the floss to the top of each egg.

You’ll never guess the secret ingredient in this easy egg-dyeing method — it’s food coloring! To give your eggs a fun color and texture, moisten a paper towel slightly with vinegar, then wrap it around an egg, making sure it’s not layered too thick. Gently press the tips of food-coloring tubes onto the paper towel, using no more than three colors at a time. Let the covered egg sit for a few minutes, then remove the paper towel to reveal your groovy creation.

Imbolc Craft 2015

This edition of Imbolc Crafts 2015 is a family craft idea. We all use herbs in the kitchen and herbs in our magick. So why not decorate some small containers and prepare for your indoor herb garden. Your indoor herb garden does not have to wait until the weather is warm, you can start it as soon as you have seed and soil. I find that using small terracotta pots are ideal for growing herbs on my windows sill.  If you have never done this before you need to know that terracotta pots are likely to leave a damp spot under the water saucer. Painting and sealing them take care of that problem, It also make it possible to place your plants in any room that have ample sunlight for growth without concern for damaging furniture.

Imbolc Crafts 2015

What you will need:

• Clean terracotta pots
• Acrylic craft paints in assorted colors
• Small or medium foam brushes
• Plastic plates
• Cotton swabs
• Small artist’s paint brush
• Fine sandpaper
• Clear spray acrylic

So lets begin: To prep your new terracotta pot your will need to sand the pot lightly with fine sandpaper. Wipe the pot with a damp cotton cloth. This will remove all traces of dust and grit. Let the pot dry before painting. Seal the inside of the terracotta pot.To do this you will need to spray it with 2 to 3 coats of clear acrylic spray paint. The clear paint seals the pot and prevents moisture from leaching through to the ide after the pot is planted. [Do the same for the saucer that goes with the pot] Allow the paint to dry completely before continuing.

Layer the pot with primer paint as its first coatingPaint the outside of the pot. Apply a  coat of acrylic paint. Paint  the top 2 inches of the inside of the pot. There is no need to paint more of the inside because it will be filled with soil. Let the paint dry completely then apply a second coat. Allow the second coat to dry then apply a another coat. Do this until your pot is the desired color. When this is dry it is time to decorate your pot. You can use a sponge dipped in a contrasting color to add designs or you can paint the rim a contrasting color you can also use the cotton swabs to create a design such as dots or stars. The decorating with paint is only as limited as your imagination allows.

Imbolc Crafts 2015 ideas for the both the young crafter and the young at heart.

Here are a few idea for the young magick user to do using Modge Podge- Modge Podge Teracotta Pots the details can be found here:  http://www.selinakerley.com/2013/04/modge-podge.html Modification to the idea includes using comics, or magazine pictures that the little ones pick out themselves. transformation

Transformation – a thorough or dramatic change in form or appearance. In the Magickal world it can also be a change in perceptions and awareness as well as in ourselves.

Imbolc is a time of change, of transformation. Is there something in your life you would like to transform. If so this is the time to do magick for that transformation. This spell will include an assignment to complete it. The ingredients you will need to begin your spell: paper, pen or pencil, during this part of the spell you will think calmly about the things in your  life that you feel need to be transformed. Make your list. Now give your self some time, focus only on your breathing, do this for at least 5 deep breaths. Now look at your list that you have made. if there is anything frivolous on your list cross it off. Now number the items on your list with one [1]  being the most important, then after you have finished numbering this list put it aside and again breathe 5 deep breaths. Now pick up your list and look at it again do you still feel the numerical order is correct? if you need to redo the numerical order do it, put it aside do 5 deep breaths and look at it again for the correct numerical order. Do this until you are satisfied that you have placed the most important thing for transformation  in the number one position, followed by the 2nd and 3rd transformation you would like to see in your life.

Now you are ready to do your spell: You will need paper, pen or pencil, [a sheet of paper for each of the first 3 transformation on your list] You will need an item to correspond with the transformation that you desire[here is where your assignment come in, research the transformation that you desire and find one item which you can carry or consume[ for good health that would be a glass of apple juice, or a piece of apple or an agate]. You will need to find one item for each of the transformation you wish to work with. You will need a quartz crystal, your imagination, and your voice. This may be done on Imbolc or on the full moon.

On your paper write the transformation that you wish to have, how you see it changing you in all the ways you wish to be transformed.  Use your imagination and visualize how you will look, feel and act once the transformation is completed. Be as thorough as you can when you are satisfied

chant three time holding the corresponding item and the crystal in your hand:

By earth, by air, by fire and sea
This transformation I want for me
This is how I desire my____to be
I know this is already done for me
So mote it be

When you complete your spells put your corresponding items into a small pouch that you can carry with you while the transformation is taking place.
